Store-bought protein bars can be loaded with junk like fillers, preservatives, sugar alcohols, etc. Here's a recipe to make your own (much) healthier version in less than 10 minutes!
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups blanched almond flour
4 scoops (~20g each) unflavored whey protein isolate
2-4 Tbsp honey or other sweetener of choice
1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
1/4 cup butter, melted
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a mixer or by hand.
Grease a 9" square baking dish well.
Press batter into baking dish and freeze for 2+ hours.
Cut into bars and store in the fridge or freezer.
Notes:
Don't have unflavored whey protein? Use any other kind, but whey will likely result in the best texture. If your protein powder is already sweetened, leave the honey out and add in as needed at the end once you taste the batter.
Package each bar individually by wrapping in parchment paper for a grab-and-go option
Can also make cookie dough protein bites instead of bars by rolling the batter into balls or cutting into smaller squares
These make an excellent healthier dessert!
